Raise self esteem (quick, easy and effective)

If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears - Glenn Clark

In Every Breath

in every breath
if you're the center
of your own desires
you'll lose the grace
of your beloved

but if in every breath
you blow away
your self claim
the ecstasy of love
will soon arrive

in every breath
if you're the center
of your own thoughts
the sadness of autumn
will fall on you

but if in every breath
you strip naked
just like a winter
the joy of spring
will grow from within

all your impatience
comes from the push
for gain of patience
let go of the effort
and peace will arrive

all your unfulfilled desires
are from your greed
for gain of fulfillments
let go of them all
and they will be sent as gifts

fall in love with
the agony of love
not the ecstasy
then the beloved
will fall in love with you

What is Real Love - A Sufi Perspective

Vancouver Canada April 2005 - Shaykh Hisham Kabbani speaks at an interfaith event about the reality of human beings, the meaning of real love, tolerance, acceptance and the human potential.

Some notes on Sufism.

Sufism, which is sometimes known as the Way of the Heart, is the spiritual path that exists in Islam. Sufism teaches humankind how to rise above our lower selves, by purifying our hearts from bad manners and characteristics.

Sufism recognizes and nurtures the spiritual nature of human beings.

Sufism as a path is an art, a science, a practice. It's mystical and practical. It's the path to knowing God by knowing ourselves.

Sufism is the path ot seeking the pleasure of God, learning to love and be at peace with one's self, to be in harmony with all Allah's creations and to be dressed with the beautiful attributes of Prophets and Saints.

Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jillani once said:

"Liberate yourself from the fetters of the Ego and surrender yourself before God.
Let the Lord be your shepherd, allow Him to attend to all your cares
And do not allow temptations to entice you.
Aspirations of this world are the cause of all concern.
Aspire to God and obtain freedom."
-Here is from Rumi, "The Life and Thought of Rumi"

Do not regard yourself as infamous or weak.

Reflect upon your aspirations, O noble one.
No matter what your station be,
keep searching.
For this pursuit is a blessed course.
This quest removes all impediments to God.

The Law of Acceptance

The Law of Acceptance is best illustrated by an old Sufi story about a farmer and his son.

One day the farmer went out to feed his animals, only to find his only beloved horse lying on the ground, dead. Soon the whole village learned of the news, and came by his house to express their dismay. They said, "We've heard of the awful news! It is terrible that you lost your only horse!" The farmer replied, "Maybe."

The next week, while the farmer was working the land, his son runs to tell him that he just captured a herd of wild horses. Again the villagers hear of the farmers news, and stop by saying, "You are so lucky! You have been blessed with an entire herd of horses!" Again, the farmer's only reply was "Maybe." A few days later, while trying to tame the horses, the farmer's son was thrown to the ground and his leg was broken. When one of the villagers heard of the accident, he stopped by to say, "What poor luck you are having, I am terribly sorry." The farmer's reply once again was, "Maybe."

Weeks go by, and the farmer's son is still lame. The emperor sends out his messengers to round up all the able-bodied boys in the nearby villages to fight a local battle. When the messengers arrive at the farmer's house, they see that the farmer's son is injured so they pass him by. A few weeks later, the neighbors, who lost their sons in the battle, again come by the farmer's home and say, "You are so lucky to have your son home with you." Again the farmer replies, "Maybe."

The Law of Acceptance teaches us that our lives are always evolving. And what may appear to be a tragedy, may be the perfect conduit for our dreams to be fulfilled. The Chinese symbol of crisis, is also the same symbol used for opportunity. In the midst of difficult times, wonderful outcomes often (and usually) surface. The Law of Acceptance ultimately means trust. We must trust that our lives are evolving. Trusting can be difficult when we are in the throes of pain, but it is exactly the solution for our evolution - surrender.

Acceptance is the opposite of resistance. Anger, sadness, disappointment, shame, guilt, envy, and resentment are all human emotions that we all feel from time to time. However, at the root of each of these is resistance to what is.

It would be good four us to practise daily affirmation by saying : I surrender, trust and accept that all things are working together for my highest good.

From the surah Al-Hadid, Allah s.w.t said:
No misfortune can happen on earth or in your souls but is recorded in a decree before We bring it into existence: That is truly easy for Allah. In order that ye may not despair over matters that pass you by, nor exult over favours bestowed upon you. For Allah loveth not any vainglorious boaster,- 57:22-23 - Yusuf Ali Translation:

Dr Wayne Dyer - The Matrix of Life

All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. The mind is the matrix of all matter.

He's the One

He’s the one sitting next to you,
in the bus you ride everyday to work.

He’s the one selling drinks at the junction,
the one you won’t even bother to look at.

He’s the one in sky-priced suits,
the man your boss once had lunch with.

He could be the one asking to shine your shoes for a coin.
He could be the one driving mercedes in his armani.
He could be anyone you see once in your life.
You look but you don’t really see.

By all means: Did you really search?

What do you look for :
Path to God, or just beard, turban, and robes?

Neither turbans nor robes,
he doesn’t even have to ‘look right’ for you :
no bride dress up but to her Lover’s liking.
God’s highest nobles are kept unseen in ordinariness.

Why tell you who he is,
or when, or where,
we’re not even worth to be told:
what have we done,
to think we deserve such honor?

The messenger for your soul.
The one can lead you to the path,
understands every single secret from the life of yours,
answers every single question you need to ask.

He’s the slave to one God,
serves only to one master.

Slaves won’t come,
no matter how loud you shout:
they can only be met
by permission from the master.

By all means: did you really ask?

‘By all means.’
Did you?

“And they say: Why does this messenger eat food,
and walk abouts in the markets?
Why is not an angel sent down to him,
to be a warner with him?” *

The Impossible Dream

This brief video tells a familiar story, but pay particular attention to what happened — and FAST! — AFTER the old belief was shown to be completely wrong.

"[B]elief is all important ... and as your beliefs will be shaped to a very great extent by the things you observe and think about, it is important that you should carefully govern to what you give your attention.

"And here the will comes into use, for it is by your will that you determine upon what things your attention shall be fixed."

Those words from The Science of Getting Rich remind us that as long as we continue to let the images, words, beliefs propounded by others have top place in our thoughts, we'll continue to get the RESULTS of those beliefs, those habitual thoughts.

Or we can choose to hold a different "clear mental image" and learn to gently shift our attention away from more of what we do NOT want and toward more of what we DO desire to be, do, or have. Every moment offers a new opportunity to choose differently.

Watch yourself the actual races event recorded in 1954.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness
comes as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

The Grace of Unconditional Love

In this message, Harold W. Becker shares that it is usually during times where we face the greatest challenges in life that we also create the most beautiful opportunities. These are the moments where we often initially feel the intense sense of helplessness or hopelessness, fear and doubt. Yet, when we are fortunate to be aware of the present now moment, remember to take a deep breath, release our attachment to the challenge and the outcome, and allow unconditional love as our perspective we experience grace.

Internal Power: Seven Doorways to Self Discovery

In this overview from the book by Harold W. Becker, Internal Power, Seven Doorways to Self Discovery, we find ourselves in a Grand Hallway with seven doorways representing our potential. Each doorway leads us into greater insight, understanding and personal awareness. The hallway represents our inner selves while the doorways help us recognize our journey to inner peace and freedom.

The first doorway, Choice, is the foundation of our journey of self discovery. Here we also realize the power of intent and responsibility in relationship to our choices.

In doorway two, we encounter the various ways we Communicate, both within and externally. Auditory, visual or kinesthetic along with our internal and external dialogue all point to the types of thoughts we entertain.

Positive Thinking is doorway three and here we find the road to happiness and joy in acknowledging the positive aspects of our lives.

Doorway four opens us up to the world of our Creativity. By accepting our creative nature through our thoughts, we restore the fullness of our ability to consciously create in everything we do.

Doorway five brings us to the important understanding of our innate Masculine and Feminine energies. Perhaps one of the most potent of our attributes is to embrace and balance the imagination, the feminine energy, with that of our masculine energy of willpower. This goes beyond our gender identification and when in balance, we become more whole and complete.

Doorway six leads us to the most incredible and fulfilling relationship of our Child Within. We can learn to bring this vibrant and dynamic energy back into our present moment as a spontaneous and joyful expression.

This brings us to the final doorway of Unconditional Love. The culmination of our life journey, here we release our attachments to fear and doubt and accept the natural flow of love that is always present. Our Internal Power is greatest when we realize unconditional love for ourselves and all life.

Dont go to sleep this night by Rumi

don't go to sleep
this night
one night is worth
a hundred thousand souls

the night is generous
it can give you
a gift of the full moon
it can bless your soul
with endless treasure

every night when you feel
the world is unjust
never ending grace
descends from the sky
to soothe your souls

the night is not crowded like the day
the night is filled with eternal love
take this night
tight in your arms
as you hold a sweetheart

remember the water of life
is in the dark caverns
don't be like a big fish
stopping the life's flow
by standing in the mouth of a creek

during a night
the blessed prophet
broke all the idols and
God remained alone
to give equally to all
an endless love

Escaping the Matrix

The Matrix was one of the most popular and thought-provoking movies of all time. Viewers all over the world were captivated by the film’s primary message: People get into deep trouble when they mistake what they perceive for reality. What most viewers do not realize is that prior to the release of this groundbreaking film, western intelligence agencies were already using the term “the Matrix” to describe today’s world. This was in contrast to their work with remote viewers, who would “escape the matrix” to gather intelligence. Art truly does imitate life.

In the movie, the Matrix is an elaborate Artificial Intelligence computer simulation that’s so captivating that people mistake it for reality. People perceive they are walking about and interacting with others, but their physical bodies are actually submerged in fluid-filled pods, “plugged into” the Matrix, while their vital life force is harnessed to power the Matrix.

After Neo (Keanu Reaves) learns the truth, with the help of Morpheus’s (Lawrence Fishburne) training, he is able to overcome his misconception that the Matrix is reality. Neo rebels against the machines that create his false reality and, eventually, he escapes the limitations of the Matrix. To others, he has developed superhuman abilities, but, “in reality,” he has merely recognized the truth.

Escaping the Matrix is a metaphor for the mystic path to enlightenment.

The Matrix can be defined as the world that we perceive, which includes the physical world, as well as higher planes of emotions and thoughts, which also affect us.

Within the Matrix, are countless fear-based thoughts and emotions that condition us to accept limitations. We are taught that we have little power, and what little power we do have, we are advised to delegate to authority figures and experts. Swimming in a sea of negative thoughts, we are prompted to use our creative ability to imagine even more negative thoughts. Without introspection, the Matrix gets darker and more dense.

Anyone who blindly accepts these prevalent, negative thoughts will have his or her life path dictated by the Matrix.

Are your ready to escape the Matrix?

Hold the Light

HOLD THE LIGHT
© 1968 Sommersongs / BMI

And I've seen where I'd like to be
It's a place where your mind is free
If you've seen it, better keep it, don't let go
Hold the Light, it's so bright
I can't describe it but it's right
And easy to find it, Hold the Light.

And I know what I want to do
I can try to enlighten you
If you've seen it, better keep it, don't let go
Hold the Light, it's inside
And will be there day or night
We can be somewhere, Hold the Light.

It's so hard to hold on, but you can if you try
Don't be mislead by what you've been brought up to do
It's for the better in you, and will be there day or night
We can be somewhere, Hold the Light.

And I've touched what I want to reach
And it's things I would like to teach
If you've seen it, better keep it, don't let go

Hold the Light, it's inside, and will be there day or night
We can be somewhere, Hold the Light
And will be there, Hold the Light
We can be somewhere, Hold the Light
And will be there day or night
We can be somewhere, Hold the Light.
